Stop Doomscrolling and Be Part of the Circle: Help Sustain Red POP! News

For far too long, mainstream media have told stories about us without including us. Indigenous voices are often sidelined, our stories erased or whitewashed, and our creativity, innovation, and achievements dismissed. We deserve better, and that’s why I created Red POP! News.

Red POP! News is the next chapter in work that began over a decade ago when I founded A Tribe Called Geek, a groundbreaking media platform dedicated to highlighting Indigenous geek culture, STEM,  and our place in the worlds of pop culture, tech, and beyond.

With A Tribe Called Geek, I helped build a community that proved Indigenous people belong everywhere, in gaming, in comics, in film, in every space where stories are told and imagination is celebrated. Through my work with A Tribe Called Geek, Indigenerds were able to challenge stereotypes, celebrate our brilliance, and carve out space for our voices and talents within industries that often overlook us.

But as our stories and our creativity continue to grow, so must the platforms that support them.

Red Pop! News is a bold celebration of Indigenous creatives and the work they are doing to amplify our stories, achievements, and futures.

It’s an independent media platform that goes even deeper, amplifying Indigenous voices, honoring our creativity, and showcasing our ongoing contributions to pop culture and beyond. Every story is done with care and with a clear mission: to reclaim our narratives and remind the world that Indigenous people are not relics of the past. We are here, thriving, imagining, and creating futures.

This work is deeply personal to me, and it’s also bigger than me.

Doing this kind of independent journalism takes time, energy, and resources. I can’t do it alone. As a Disabled Indigenous journalist and creative, I rely on community support to keep the lights on and continue producing the kind of thoughtful, meaningful stories our communities deserve.

This is where you come in.

If you believe in the importance of independent and Native journalism, I invite you to join the Red POP! Circle, a growing group of monthly supporters who help sustain this work.

You can join through my Ko-Fi, where you can choose a monthly tier that feels right for you.

Here’s what your support makes possible:

  • Creating and publishing stories, features, and interviews.
  • Participation in conferences, cons, etc
  • Maintaining the Red Pop News platform and community spaces.
  • Helping to keep me housed and alive to do this heartwork.

When you support Red Pop! News, you’re not just funding independent Native journalism, you’re fueling a movement. You’re saying our stories matter, and you’re helping keep the fire burning for generations to come.

The seeds planted with A Tribe Called Geek continue to grow here at Red Pop! News, and with your support, they’ll keep blooming.

So please, join the Circle today and help me continue this work.

Join the Red POP! Circle here.

Thank you for believing in me and in this work.
